The five situations that most commonly call for Invisalign First are:
Crossbite — When a child's upper jaw is too narrow to fit correctly with the lower jaw, the back top teeth will bite inside of the lower teeth instead of outside. This can be corrected by expanding the upper jaw.
Crowding — Even before all of a child's permanent (adult) teeth come in, we can tell when there will not be enough room to accommodate them. Spacing the upper teeth with Invisalign First can create the necessary room to avoid impaction of the adult teeth and possibly avoid extractions as well.
Spacing — It is very common for there to be large gaps in between adult teeth when they first appear in the front of the mouth. Closing these gaps and properly aligning the teeth can have a significant, positive impact on the future position of the remaining adult teeth.
Overbite or Underbite — When the upper teeth and jaw do not properly overlap the bottom teeth and jaw it becomes difficult to properly close the lips together and adequately chew food. These situations also create a facial imbalance that decreases the amount of proper lip support.
